Show and Tell Friday

I know most of us, in our Show and Tell Friday, show some beautiful objects that we have at our homes. Even so, when I was thinking on what should I show you this Friday, I had the idea of, instead, to show some of the good cooking my husband does.
He’s such a good cook that I’m always taking pictures.
So, in today’s Show and Tell, you will see some DH kitchen delights.

First, this wonderful piece of porc, roled and seasoned that he bought in his favorite butcher. He cooked it in the oven.

In the end, it tasted like ham. Very good indeed.

Look at that. Isn't it yammy?
On the other day, it was beef.

Here it is before it was sliced.

With two different kind of mushrooms.

The above one had a lot of garlic and was roasted in the oven.
It was so good, but I also liked the little ones.

And in the New Years Eve, in the night, we had lobster, a special treat he usualy buys in that day of the year.

Rain and more rain

Oh, the rain that is falling here!...
Looks like the whole world is falling down in the form of rain.
My clothes are still on the line! All wet.
Never mind, after the rain it will come the sun and then they will dry.
The only problem with the rain is, as I was sleeping today in the wee hours of the day, I heard and felt something unsusual. I woke up and it was a drop of rain that came through the roof and the ceiling that is made of wood and landed on my bedside table! Can you imagine the nuisance?
There I went to put a towel on top of the table and above it a plastic box to receive the drops.
And then I went to sleep again.
Now, when the rain stops, my husband must send a man to fix the roof.
Never mind, there is so many bad things in the world, a chip in the roof is not one of them.
Praise Our Lord for the sun but also for the rain.
Tomorow is another day.

A Day in My Life

Today is quite shiny.
Yesterday it rained quite a lot. My washing was all wet but today is drying.
As I woke up, I took from the washing machine more clothes to put on the line believing in the promess of a day full of sun. And it is. Sunny as it can be. And cold. Not the cold people are having in USA or even in UK, a more southern cold that makes shiver and wear gloves and carves.

Because of the dark days we had, my husband went to pick up some mimosas to bring some colour and “sun” inside the house.

Look at them, aren’t they nice?

Oh no, as I’m writing this the sun is going out again. Not that I don’t like a grey and rainy day, it’s just we are needing some sun.
That’s ok. It’s already afternoon and some more hours and we will have everybody at home, as the children come back from school.
But before I must go and do some shopping.

Today cooking won’t be a big deal because we will have yesterdays leftovers: lasagna, made by my husband.

The children like it so much that my husband always makes a lot.
And I like it too.

Rain again

This was what happened to me: I put a load of washing to dry on the line and then there it came the rain.
It's everything wet.
Well, never mind, better wet on the line then inside the washing machine.
Let's hope for some sun tomorow.
P.S.: The difference is, neither my husband was outside watering the plants neither he smokes a pipe - or else.
What happened was it began to rain after I put the washing out.

Azaleas from my husband - Pink Saturday

When my husband gave me these flowers yesterday, I immediately thought that I couldn't find anything better for Pink Saturday.

Aren't they beautiful?

I like azaleas so much.

Being crafty - Show and Tell Friday

Pretiness

Ladies, I'm going now tell you something: I craft. Now, are you wondering, why this woman never posts about her so called crafting if she, as she says, do craft?
I will explain .
One: I don't craft as much as, for instance, Posy, Plum Pudding, Hen or other girls in the internet.
Two: I don't craft so well as the above girls do.
Three: having said the above reasons for not publicizing my modest crafting, I must say now that I'm shy about it. Shy about showing them, that is.
This year I'm decided to change that. Yes, I only do something for some minutes a day because I work outside and I arrive late in the evening so tired that I hardly can think.
Even so, I want go back so I'm going from now give you frequent news about my crafting adventures.
See the lovely wool in the above picture? I posted it last year.
Now see some progress I'm making.

Isn't that lovely? The not so good thing is, looking to the pace I'm making it it will only be ready, as my mother says, for next winter.
Yes, it's a cover for the royal knees of my husband so he will be cozy and confy when he seats with us to see a movie or even, maybe, Dad's Army that he bought for me as one of his Christmas presents to me.
As it growns only two or three rows a day, with luck, it will be ready next Christmas.

P.S.: What really boders me is, because of the strong light, it looks rather pink here, when its real colour is burgundy as you can see in the first picture.

Pink Saturday

The days have been very dark and gloomy and looks like the world world comes down in the form of rain.
I like so much the rain that, to me, is such an happiness when it rains.
Not now. Even me, I just want a bit of a sunny day to dry everything, to put the clothes in the line, to have a nice light inside our house.
So, I went to my september photographs and found this nice picture of one of my pink pelargoniums.
This will give us a bit of coulour.

Baking and Such - Show and Tell Friday

We had a quite a fair amount of baking.
My husband made that turkey pie I told before and also another with minced meat for another day and made sausage rolls, the best ones I ever ate.

And I made Bolo Vicente or Vincent Cake, a must in all Christmas because my grandmother used to make it always.
It's the one in the picture above and the same here too.

I also made rabanadas, or golden slices.

They are made with bread, sliced. We put each slice in milk, take it off, put in egg and fry it.

Then, we mix sugar and cinnamon on both sides while it's still warm. My uncle likes to eat them with honey.

Another must on Christmas time at our house - and since the begining of Autumn - is apple pie. Two big ones I made and it's already almost in the end.
Then it came the end of the year with a batch of new baking.
The amazing this is the more I bake the more I like it.
Let's see what this year bring us on baking inspiration. And I will keep you updated.
