Laundry Day

Don't be deceived by the title, I don't think it's the best system to have a day to do all the laundry from the beginnig to the end.

Well, for some people it's the best way of doing it and that is right, if for you it works like that, the better, carry on doing it that way, it's just that for me it doesn't work at all.

So, I try to wash a load every day, usually in the night, unless it's Saturday or it's an off work day that I try to have each month.

Now I hear the chorus of people saying: what, to wash in the night? Yes, and now I will hear even more people disagreeing when I say that  I wash in the night, most days - safe saturdays and the aforementioned off work days - and I only dry it in the morning.

Yes, it's my way of doing it: to wash in the night and put on line in the morning before going to work.

In the evening when I come home I take them from the line. If it's something that not needs ironing I fold and put in their places, if it needs it, it will wait till Saturday for ironing. It will wait very cosy in the basket.

Now things have been very bad in that matter because the rain doesn't stop for a moment and if it does and people feel the tempation of placing the washed clothes on the line, it will take just the time for us to finish and the rain will begin falling again.

In my life I had two driers, one each time, 😀 but now I haven't, I decided that there's no better way to dry than putting the clothes on the line.

Ah and when it rains too much ? Patience, we have enough clothes to wait till the rain stops. Only little things will  be washed and dried in small hanging things inside the  balcony.

Better days will come. I can't wait to put our clothes on the line.

There for a while I was drying things on a line stretched across my back patio. It was labor intensive, as I had a house full of people. Now that its only me, I wash a load 2 to 3 times a week, always at night, then wait until the morning to warm up the house with the dryer. A lot of things get spun for a few minutes then placed on hangers. My mother was staunchly against the dryer, even into her 90s - I think she viewed hanging out laundry as a form of exercise. (:

Hello! I so enjoyed the images you shared. And I agree with you! I do at least one load a day. If I leave it all for one day, I am completely overwhelmed! Thank you for sharing this. Have a cozy Sunday!

Hanging out in the sun it's what it works for me but I will not say that using the drier is wrong, each person knows better what it works for her. I see that you wash at night too. As a working out woman, it's the way I can do it, I come home and I wash but it feels good on saturdays to be able to wash also in the morning. It sounds more right to me but I need to also wash in the night on week days. The important thing is to have control over the laundry.

Thank you for your nice words and encouragement.

I used to do laundry about every day, but now that there are just 2 of us here I don't need to. I do laundry several times a week though. I agree, it's better than a whole day of it.
I love your pics!

Sometimes I do lots of loads in one day; sometimes I just do one or two each day. It all depends on my mood and my schedule but I have never dried our clothes on a clothesline. I definitely grew up with clotheslines but we have a fairy short season in which they actually work as spring and fall tend to be pretty rainy and winter is just much too cold. I'll never forget the year my mom hand washed my brothers bright red wool overalls and hung them on the line... in winter. They froze solid! It was a riot.

Yes, we have to adjust to our needs, there is no rule, each of us know what to do. For me it's better to do everyday but I must say that someties I do just a few times in the week.
That's good that you like the images I choose. Thank you.

Here I haven't the problem of too much cold, we have winter but it's rainy and when it's not we have sun. The clothes take more time to dry but it's worth the work of putting them on the line because of the nice scent they have for being dried outside.
Now we are having a bad time with so much rain, too much, what makes the drying of the clothes very problematic. The good part is that I have an enclosed balcony and I dry some things there but it's not the same as to dry outside.
Anyway, each person with her style and convenience.
Thank you for the story of the clothes frozen outside. 😄
