It's cold outside

So the storm came and went away but left a trail of destruction everywhere. Not like it happens in America, the houses are all standing but even so, for our standards it was quite a storm with destruction and casualties.
Here what we have the most is trees uprooted everywhere, several in the same street, in very many streets, branches fallen and trees cut by the firemen so people and cars can pass, people arriving late to work and school because so many streets are cut and even on foot people can't go there. No place to park the cars, infinite trafic lines, etc.

It was quite a night! The wind and rain on the windows made such a noise that people woke up in fear. In the morning everything was quiet but what a vision! I can't imagine the number of trees that we lost.
Anyway, let's give thanks to God for sparing us, not everybody in this country can say that the problem they had was only a fright, delays of every kind and trees broken. There are people facing serious situations.
I hope we will not have such a storm again so soon.

Now we have rain and cold and a lot of snow in the North (a lot for our standards) but we are in peace.

Winter in those times

It's quite amazing how most things were more beautiful in the past. Even the wind and the cold of winter were so beautifuly portrayed on the magazine covers that is a deleight to see.

Watch the clothes, all the ambiance, the faces, the houses and cars, the natures, the streets.

Oh, there she comes with all that nostalgia, some people may say. It's not nostalgia or wanting to live in the  past, it's the true, the facts.

As we can't live in such beautiful times because we must endure the ugliness of most  things now, we can at least try to incorporate in our lives, in our mind, in our way of living a little of the preciousness of those times.

Let's delight  ourselves and get some inspiration from these images.

And let's amuse ourselves too.

I quite relate with this one :D

😁

This one is the best for me!

Cold times

It's getting cooler.

Here, in this corner of the world, we have just a bit of cold. Yes, it's Europe and we have Winters but quite mild - if my mother would read this now would say the opposite as she is always complaining about the cold.

Oh, well, looks like we will have a little cold here tomorrow, a true cold weather with 0ÂșC, so they say at the Met Office. I'm happy. I can't stand the heat so I feel at home when it's really cold.

Wrapped in a scarf and with gloves on I will venture going out because I work outside, no matter if it's cold or hot. I mean, outside my home, not in the fields.

I'm dreaming of a white...No, not Christmas because it's January but I keep hopping for some snow. Last time it snowed it was years ago and the television stopped what it was broadcasting to announce to the world that it was snowing.

It's good that in my house we are used to soups and stews, the right food for this kind of weather. And hot chocolate too, that I can't go without it and to be in my sofa with several layers of nice throws.

Ah, the pleasures of Winter ! I wonder why most people prefer the heat ! Pity that cold weather will be at the middle of the week and not on Saturday or Sunday when I can seat for a long time watching a movie or reading.

Well, never mind, let it come, it will be very welcome.

The blessing of Seasons - Winter

I know, most people don't like Winter.
Because it's too cold, or has too much snow or even because it's too wet.
Well, I like it any way.

I can't say I have snow here, which is a pity. Some years ago it snowed which was such an happening. Even the television stopped what it was doing it to announce that was snowing. Not anymore. What we get each year is a good dose of rain and wind and a little cold.
The forecast is announcing rain till the middle of the month and I, who like to dry my clothes in the sun, feel a little depressed about it.
To say the truth, Our Lord must be tired of complaints. First it was that it didn't rain for too long and I was fearing a severe drought. And I like so much the rain, I needed it to feel well.
Now I complain that I need some days of sun because I can't dry my clothes. Oh, well, it's better to leave it with Our Lord Who knows better what to do.

Even so I can't wait to see my lines full of clothes to dry !

(old pictures, I'm afraid! Some new ones soon)

Well, we can't complain about it because the rain is needed and becuase it's so nice.

Just look at the beauty of this flower all covered with raindrops.

Rain and more rain

Oh, the rain that is falling here!...
Looks like the whole world is falling down in the form of rain.
My clothes are still on the line! All wet.
Never mind, after the rain it will come the sun and then they will dry.
The only problem with the rain is, as I was sleeping today in the wee hours of the day, I heard and felt something unsusual. I woke up and it was a drop of rain that came through the roof and the ceiling that is made of wood and landed on my bedside table! Can you imagine the nuisance?
There I went to put a towel on top of the table and above it a plastic box to receive the drops.
And then I went to sleep again.
Now, when the rain stops, my husband must send a man to fix the roof.
Never mind, there is so many bad things in the world, a chip in the roof is not one of them.
Praise Our Lord for the sun but also for the rain.
Tomorow is another day.

A Day in My Life

Today is quite shiny.
Yesterday it rained quite a lot. My washing was all wet but today is drying.
As I woke up, I took from the washing machine more clothes to put on the line believing in the promess of a day full of sun. And it is. Sunny as it can be. And cold. Not the cold people are having in USA or even in UK, a more southern cold that makes shiver and wear gloves and carves.

Because of the dark days we had, my husband went to pick up some mimosas to bring some colour and “sun” inside the house.

Look at them, aren’t they nice?

Oh no, as I’m writing this the sun is going out again. Not that I don’t like a grey and rainy day, it’s just we are needing some sun.
That’s ok. It’s already afternoon and some more hours and we will have everybody at home, as the children come back from school.
But before I must go and do some shopping.

Today cooking won’t be a big deal because we will have yesterdays leftovers: lasagna, made by my husband.

The children like it so much that my husband always makes a lot.
And I like it too.
