On lavenders

My lavender, which I had at the door, dried out.

It was quite nice and it has grown much more than the double. I bought it quite small but she was happy with my care and was very nice. It even bloomed so well. When I would come in or out my skirt would touch it and a wonderful scent of lavender crossed the air.

Not anymore, last Summer the heat wave killed it. I was careful watering it and all but even so it dried. The air was so dry and hot like an oven and even with water it didn't survive. The heat reached 38ºC  but maybe it was even hotter in that spot.

I don't know if I told you before but I am a procrastinator so I managed to put off the problem for some time and when I, at last, put myself together to buy a new one there was none of my liking.

Spanish Lavender

All I could find was the spanish type which, being nice enough, it was not the one I wanted and had more to do with me.
So which one do I prefer ? The angustifolia !

Angustifolia

Not dententa, the french one, the angustifolia, the english one.

Dentata

Oh well, I think I feel so tired with the search that I will accept a dentata gladely.
We will see.
Wait for next episode.

Raining outside

It's raining outside but here, in the house, it feels good.
My cyclamen, that my husband gave me, is very nice. I can't say the same about some others in the windowsill. They need a bit of prunning. I should take more care of my plants.
Gardening time.

Outdoor Wednesday

In the begining of the month, as I was posting about a garden in Sintra ( here), I said I would post more pictures about it the following week.

I didn't because there was the most amazing double raibow and I wanted so much to show it.

So, today, I will go back to that lovely garden.

For Outdoor Wednesday at Southern Daydream.

Outdoor Wednesday

Today is Outdoor Wednesday Day at A Southern Daydreamer.

Today I'll show you some pictures of a foggy and rainy day at a garden in Sintra. A very romantic one and historic also. It was built in the XIX century and it's called Monserrate.

This place is too beautiful to show just some pictures. I will post more next wednesday.

Pink Saturday

Kimberly at How Sweet The Sound hosts Pink Saturday.
After some problems with my computor, that are not completely solved, I'm joining again.

For me, pink things are usualy flowers.
So, the one in the top is that azalea that I posted before about it. It is still blooming in full force. I'm amazed how nice the plant still looks.

This one is from one of my african violets, the last I bought and the more pink one.

These plants I bought at the market some time ago and they are growing very nicely and nice they are with its pink leaves.

For now they are standing in my kitchen windowsill but I'm planing to put them outside. Let's see if they like it or not.

Until next saturday.

My computor is in the same situation. The man didn't went to my home yet to fix it.
So, here I am again, looking in my Flickr pictures something to show you in this Show and Tell Friday.
I'm calling it "More corners of my home" but I should say " Waiting for Spring", because I will post past pictures om my "blooming house" past Springs.

Or should I call it "my window"?

Azaleas from my husband - Pink Saturday

When my husband gave me these flowers yesterday, I immediately thought that I couldn't find anything better for Pink Saturday.

Aren't they beautiful?

I like azaleas so much.

Pink Saturday

The days have been very dark and gloomy and looks like the world world comes down in the form of rain.
I like so much the rain that, to me, is such an happiness when it rains.
Not now. Even me, I just want a bit of a sunny day to dry everything, to put the clothes in the line, to have a nice light inside our house.
So, I went to my september photographs and found this nice picture of one of my pink pelargoniums.
This will give us a bit of coulour.

For Pink Saturday, at Beverly's.
