Laundry Day

Don't be deceived by the title, I don't think it's the best system to have a day to do all the laundry from the beginnig to the end.

Well, for some people it's the best way of doing it and that is right, if for you it works like that, the better, carry on doing it that way, it's just that for me it doesn't work at all.

So, I try to wash a load every day, usually in the night, unless it's Saturday or it's an off work day that I try to have each month.

Now I hear the chorus of people saying: what, to wash in the night? Yes, and now I will hear even more people disagreeing when I say that  I wash in the night, most days - safe saturdays and the aforementioned off work days - and I only dry it in the morning.

Yes, it's my way of doing it: to wash in the night and put on line in the morning before going to work.

In the evening when I come home I take them from the line. If it's something that not needs ironing I fold and put in their places, if it needs it, it will wait till Saturday for ironing. It will wait very cosy in the basket.

Now things have been very bad in that matter because the rain doesn't stop for a moment and if it does and people feel the tempation of placing the washed clothes on the line, it will take just the time for us to finish and the rain will begin falling again.

In my life I had two driers, one each time, 😀 but now I haven't, I decided that there's no better way to dry than putting the clothes on the line.

Ah and when it rains too much ? Patience, we have enough clothes to wait till the rain stops. Only little things will  be washed and dried in small hanging things inside the  balcony.

Better days will come. I can't wait to put our clothes on the line.

Endless rain

Yes, we are like this and have been since November with some intervals, but now we haven't them for more than a month, just rain and rain.
Sometimes the sun shows himself  for some minutes, hours, if we are lucky, but he goes away again.
Everyday we have rain and what a rain we have, night and day, strong and noisy.
The fields are drenched and can't hold well the trees that fall down when a strong wind comes.
We are living as in a film, an apocaliptic one, as many people in some parts of the country have not a house anymore because the wing took the tiles off.
Not here, in my town we lost so, so many trees, but that's all. And walls, because the trees fell on them.

It's too much. We can't wash the clothes as most of us dries them in the line to catch the good scent that the sun gives to the line dried clothes. Not now. There is no sun to dry the clothes. So we dry them inside, in enclosed balconies.
Even the people with driers don't use them much because the electricity prices went too high.
Anyway, for the will of God we live in these times of the end and we will endure it.

But one of these days the sun will come back and I will be happy with it, me who was always happy when it rained. But now we had enough. We really need some dry, sunny days.

It's raining and raining

It has been raining a lot, with days of interval, but yesterday it was too much with thunder and all.

Sometimes is the worry that it can rain too much on our way to Mass or back,

and then we arrive at home all soaked, being it that we came from church or work.

Sometimes it's just that we can't do our laudry properly.

But never mind, it's the time for the rain and we must thank God for it.

These blessed days before Christmas

It has been raining and raining. Not that I mind or complain, after the draught this rain is a blessing, it's just that a homemaker really needs some days of sun, or at least, that it doesn't rain so she may dry some clothes in the wind.

I do like the nice smell of dried clothes, if they are mine they smell like lavendar, the others have other nice smells. My children relate lavender with all things mine and they like to have their own scents. And I must say I don't like lavender scent on the kitchen laundry, I prefer to have it on my own things or the bathroom laundry.

Anyway, it has been quite a real Autumn with all this rain, wind, fog and it has been rather cold, at least as cold as it can be in this corner of Europe.

The days go by and I give thanks to Our Lord every day for all those blessings He gives to us. Even in the more difficult days we feel, so clearly, His Hand on us, guiding us, protecting us and helping us in each step of the way. Thanks be to God in His Saints and in His Angels and, above all, in His Holy Mother.

The First Thankgiving - September 8, 1565 - https://myfloridahistory.org/frontiers/article/140

I'm not American but I do like Thanksgiving, even if we don't celebrate it, but I like it because one upon a time my husband, still not even my fiancé, organized a lunch with several people just to invite me. Well, one year later we were already married and I don't regret it at all.

After Thanksgiving it comes black friday which, even if I don't like the name of it, I like the reduced things we can find on that day.

And about Christmas, I must say that I'm singing Rudolph since October so I am in Christmas mood for a long time.

I've been buying and wrapping presents for a whole month now.

One of this days I will post about it as I like to do it every year.

From last year

Bye for now, see you tomorrow, maybe.

It's Autumn - or it is not

It's raining

I'm amazed.
Usually, in this corner of the world, the Autumn arrives so late which is a bad thing for me as I don't like the Summer, other than when we go on holiday all together. That I like and the fact that my younger girls are school free till September.
But something good happened this year: the Autumn arrived on time and even gave us some little samples when it was still Summer. Oh, I was happy. It' so good to not have to endure the hit anymore, the display of bodies dressed in less clothes than they should, the heavy air with less oxygen, the car being hot when I get in and the sun burning my skin.

Not anymore till the middle of next year! I felt so relived and full of psychological energy. I felt I wanted to live ! I caught myself making plans for me, for the house and just breathing the nice fresh air in the morning.
I was even thinking of wearing stockings already. I think I never did it before October - the middle of it.

I know for many people the Autumn and the Winter are prone to depressions but not for me, with me it's the opposite.
I had a big smile in my soul.

Life is good.

And then...
Summer came back. I can't believe we are in the end of October and having bouts of heat for days and days.
First it came a little and I thought that it was the Summer saying goodbye for good. But then it came such a heat wave that it was hell on earth with cathastrophic fires and all. It was the Hurricane Ophelia bringing all the heat with it.
And now we are having heat again... Some forecasts say it wil be 28 today but I saw another saying it will be 31 !!! I just can't believe it !

Oh, well, let's hope that it will end soon and we will have a good, true Autumn. I really want cold days.

..
Just a note: maybe you are wondering why I posted about the heat and put a picture of a nice day of rain. Well, it's to counteract the depression the heat gives to me. Some days ago it rained and very nice it was, so each time I think on the heat, I look  at this and feel better.

The blessing of Seasons - Winter

I know, most people don't like Winter.
Because it's too cold, or has too much snow or even because it's too wet.
Well, I like it any way.

I can't say I have snow here, which is a pity. Some years ago it snowed which was such an happening. Even the television stopped what it was doing it to announce that was snowing. Not anymore. What we get each year is a good dose of rain and wind and a little cold.
The forecast is announcing rain till the middle of the month and I, who like to dry my clothes in the sun, feel a little depressed about it.
To say the truth, Our Lord must be tired of complaints. First it was that it didn't rain for too long and I was fearing a severe drought. And I like so much the rain, I needed it to feel well.
Now I complain that I need some days of sun because I can't dry my clothes. Oh, well, it's better to leave it with Our Lord Who knows better what to do.

Even so I can't wait to see my lines full of clothes to dry !

(old pictures, I'm afraid! Some new ones soon)

On Rainy Days and Laundry

I wonder why, I like very much to do the laundry. I think it's  one of my favourites homemaking chores, or should I say, Missions.

I don't know about you, but I have a Laundry Plan, which makes all the work much easier. It's scheduled and I haven't to think about  it.

But  then, there it came a problem: the rain.
Now you are thinking why is the rain a problem.

First I must say that I like so much the rain and I can't stay longer without it but, on  the other side, being a homemaker makes me long for a whole week of sun.

And now you are thinking why this woman doesn't just put the washed clothes in the dryer? Or can it be that in her corner of the world there is no dryers? Yes, there are and, in fact, I have one and it works perfectly. Why the problem, then?

Oh, well, this woman who has a dryer likes to put her clothes in the line to dry. The little pleasure to see the cloths all in a row in the line and the pegs, the sun on them, the smell of washed clothes bathed by the sun...Pure poetry !

We are having unstoppable days of rain. Should I stay happy with it or should I go sad because I can't put my clothes on the line?

Well, better to find a compromise. I have a place to put small things to dry inside so I will wash just the little ones.

Oh, how life is easy after all, why we make a problem of it ?

Laundry, laundry, here I go.

Laundry time

Well, I like to do the laundry.
The problem was that it was raining for several days. Yes, I have a dryer but as we are used to the sun, we like to dry our clothes in the air. I use my dryer only for emergencies - and if the rain stayed for some more days it would have been an emergency !

But no, here is the sun and clothes are on the line.

There is something about clothes on the line that make me feel good. I like to go in the street and see people's houses on a sunny day with their clothes on the wind. It shows that there is life inside that house, there is a family. It look so colourful and nice.

Off now to do some more.

It's Spring or what?

Spring here is very reluctant. Sometimes looks like it's coming in full force and then there comes the rain again.
Look at that!

Nice weather

Even so, I feel already that nesting instinct I have in the begining of Spring. I feel I want to clean, to tidy up, to do some gardening...

Some days ago I found in the market these nice flowers. Aren't they beautiful?
Well, time to stop dilly dalling in the internet. Back to homemaking.
See you tomorow.

A bit of pink

Today it's raining a lot. The same yesterday. It's gloomy and cold. I like the rain, as everybody knows, but I must say, I need some sun. As I'm at home today - yeeees! - I planed to do a lot of things. No. I'm doing just some little things. I feel I want to seat and read.
Mum need to rest too, said my 10 yo girl. Yes. I'm tired.

Well, to brighten a bit the day, I thought about posting some pictures of my flowers.
They don't mind the cold. Looks like it's always spring, around here. I'm dreaning with a bit of snow but n0thing happens.

That's ok. Maybe the snow would burn the flowers.
Pretty, aren't they.
See you tomorow, maybe.

Wednesday, outdoor and indoor

Yesterday was a good day. My girl sang very well with her frieds from school and, as her class is very international and multicultural, the music teacher choose some music from countries where some children came, por instance, Romenia and China. There is also a gipsy boy that performed the most wonderful drum solo - he played with his hands. It was amazing as it was played by his own heart with absolut freedom. In the end the audience was clapping and shouting.
Very nice.

Today, for A Souther Daydreamer who usualy has an Outdoor Wednesday and that, in this month of December, wants also inside, because of Christmas, go these pictures of today's post.

So, I have an outside full of rain and a Christmas inside with my tree, once again, today taken at night and with no flash. I'm still strugling with my new camera but in the end it came out nice.

Busy weekend and lovely flowers

Just a quick post to say hello.
I'm quite in a hurry because I have a lot to do and in the begining of the afternoon we must go to my little one school for her Christmas party. Looks like she will sing with other tots. She must be dressed with a red plain dress, have red tights and red shirt. Let's see what it will be.
See you tomorow, then.

PS: this wonderfull rose it was my mother who gave me. It's so beautiful.

Other thing: my bougainvillea is still flowering so much. Just look at that.

Raining outside

It's raining outside but here, in the house, it feels good.
My cyclamen, that my husband gave me, is very nice. I can't say the same about some others in the windowsill. They need a bit of prunning. I should take more care of my plants.
Gardening time.

Outdoor Wednesday

Today is Wednesday so we have Outdoor Wednesday at A Southern Daydreamer.
The weather here has been quite nice and fresh with dark sky and rain.

Maybe some of you are thinking that we are having bad weather but no, for me is the most wonderful, calming weather we can have.

The plants are all wet and fresh, so delighted with the rain as I am.

Just look at them, all happy.

Praise Our Lord.
