Blue Monday

Today is Blue Monday at Sally's on Smiling Sally.
I took this picture last Summer when we were on holiday. It was from a monastery, now a museum, in the North of Portugal.
Make me feel I want to go back to those wonderful places.

Pink Saturday

I must say, at my house the most predominant colour is pink. As a house of five girls - me included - there's no way of lacking of pink.

This bowl here belongs to my baby, five years old already, but the mug is mine.

Hooked on Impatiens and geraniums

Time for another Hooked on Fridays at Hooked on Houses.
Today I'll show you something I'm hooked on: impatiens and geraniums.

I remember, when I was a little girl, my grandmother planting lots of impatiens that grew bigger and bigger. For me they are a sombol of joy. They make me feel good.
Another thing are geraniums.
My grandmother, who was a very good garden, always had them so I, that follow my grandmother as an example for most things, always have geraniums too.

Today I leave you with only some examples but I will post more on due time.

Outdoor Wednesday

I like this corner

Is Outdoor Wednesday time.
Knowing that some of you like when I post pictures that show Sintra, here they are some more.
They are not all new but even so I'll show them to you.

These pictures show a park we have. It's like a small forest in a garden.

Woods in the middle of the town

Woods in the middle of the town

And now some houses.

Mind you, mine is not as big as the above ones!

See you next week.

18 !

Today is Smallest Blessings Day at Her Southern Charm.
I hesitated on posting this here because I'm not sure if it is a small blessing, for us is a big one.
Birthdays.
We have this kind of blessings six times a year because we are six.
This time it was my big girl: she turned 18! - on April, 21.
She is becoming a woman of worth and I believe she will be a proper prov. 31 woman.
She is a strong catholic, faithfull to God and His Church.
She is already the salt of earth.

Here is she all happy with the present my husband gave her.

Outdoor Wednesday

In the begining of the month, as I was posting about a garden in Sintra ( here), I said I would post more pictures about it the following week.

I didn't because there was the most amazing double raibow and I wanted so much to show it.

So, today, I will go back to that lovely garden.

Like an angel

Please, do listen at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

I never give any attention to those talent shows that are in USA and in England. Or anywhere. So it was with some doubt but also curiosity that I noticed some catholic blogs - very good ones - talking about one of these shows.
So, I went to investigate what is was all about.

I'm speacheless.

As she began to sing, it was as an angel was singing through her mouth. Tears began rolling down my face.
Praised be Our Good Lord, who gave us such woman and praised also for making everybody recognize the amazing talent this woman has.
She reached this age only singing at Mass! With that extraordinaire voice!
As you can see, she is a middle aged woman, a bit fat and not very pretty. But the more we read about her, the more we discover her talents as a woman of worth.
I'm sorry to all that have already saw her and listened her singing, but I must post her song here, for the ones that don't know her and as a tribute to her.

Other song by her:

Her voice shows her true beauty.

I dreamed a dream
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high,
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid
When dreams were made and used,
And wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung,
No wine untasted.
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hopes apart
As they turn your dreams to shame.
And still I dream he'll come to me
And we will live our lives together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms
We cannot weather...
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seems
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.

Hooked on Aprons II

Maybe you remember when, some time ago, I posted Hooked on Aprons I for Hooked on Fridays at Hooked on Houses. I showed some of my aprons made by my grandmother.

Today I will show you some more aprons I have but not so important ones.
Even so, I like them and I use them all the time.

The picture above is my most recent aquisition and has pot holders matching. Also a kitchen towell .

The following are not new.

Apron, bread bags and pot holder

This bag matching the apron is a bread bag. As the name says, is to put bread in it.

My new set

Other apron

Apron time

This one is mine

This one, with oranges all over, is one of my favorites. It has matching pot holders too.
The girl is not me - lol - is my big girl.

Amelia's apron

This one is hers. She is very much into aprons, which is a good sign: it shows femininity and that she likes domesticity.

Beatriz's apron

This one belongs to my girl that is now fourteen - but is the older one that is showing it to us.

My husband's apron

This one belongs to my husband and it's his favorite.
This picture is a bit old and shows my little girl trying to put his glasses in the pocket.

My little girls's aprons

These ones belong to my little girls. As they see all the growns ups with aprons, they want also to have theirs.
It's good they learn from the early ages.

Outdoor Wednesday

It has been raining cats and dogs for some days. Today at 5 AM I was awaken by the most intense rain. The noise was such that one of my girls thought that was raining inside the house!

Not that I mind the rain, taking the bit that I can't put the clothes on the line to dry outside.

At more or less 8 o'clock a little bit of sun dared to appear between the heavy clouds. And see what I found: a rainbow with the most intense colours I ever saw!

Pitty I can't show it as I'd like. It was so intense.
And big. And double.
