Today I leave you with a view of one corner of my home with the roses my husband gave me and the books - mostly his books.

Two dozen red roses
As I told you several times, my husband travels a lot.
Well, yesterday night he come from one of his trips and brought me two dozens of red roses ! ! !
I immediately took some pictures and this morning I took a load of them again but today sometimes I couldn't capture the colour so well and it come a bit orange. They are such a deep dark red but the light makes them look not so dark in the pictures. I must try again.
Well, I think you will have rose pictures for a while because I can't stop taking pictures of these roses and I will post a lot of them.

Another cake and another party
Well, another cake.
Yesterday we went with the birthday girl and her friends to that place I told you to play. It's a place where there is people taking care of the children and lots of things to play with. They did quite a lot of playing and then they went to eat sandwiches, etc, including ice cream and cake.
This was the decoration she choose, in advance, to her cake. It was very good and they were all so happy.
Here is she with her long hair and skinny arms
and here the little one.
It was a happy afternoon, thanks be to God.

9 years old
One of my girls is 9 years old now. Her birthday was yesterday. She took a cake to school to eat with her friends and teacher and we had another at my mother's - I think next year I will stop buying her childish cakes but they are so nice...
As you can guess, she is still on that birthday mood and very happy.
Her favorite present was a watch my mother gave her. She felt so grown up.
Tomorow she will have a party at a place we have here where they make children birthday parties. Children can play for two hours and after that, have "tea" that includes sandwiches (several), juice, crisps, birthday cake and ice cream.
This is so popular among children that they are always hopping to be invited for a party there.
So, tomorow will be a happy day.

This beautiful song
Today I wake up with this song:
I like so much this version but the original one is from Charles Aznavour and I know it from so many years ago I really can't count them.
You can ear it here by Aznavour:
More about the song here, that was used several times in movies:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She_(Charles_Aznavour)
Lyrics
She
(Tous Les Visages de L'Amour)
Elvis Costello - from Notting Hill Soundtrack
Written by Charles Aznavour and Herbert Kretzmer
She may be the face I can't forget
The trace of pleasure or regret
Maybe my treasure or the price I have to pay
She may be the song that summer sings
May be the chill that autumn brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day
She may be the beauty or the beast
May be the famine or the feast
May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell
She may be the mirror of my dreams
A smile reflected in a stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell....
She, who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry
She maybe the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows in the past
That I remember 'till the day I die
She maybe the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I care for through the rough and ready years
Me, I'll take the laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is
She....She
Oh, she....
So beautiful.
I think it's one of the most beautiful musics ever made.

It's saturday
I've been away from the blogosphere and I miss so all those beautiful blogs I know. The problem has been so much work I have outside of my home plus the fact that I'm a taxi mother, always taking my children from a place to another. In the end of the day there's no time for anything else.
The good thing is, when my husband is not traveling, he makes the dinner and let me just collapse on the couch. That is the best time of the day, being at home with my husband and children.
Talking about traveling. My husband went to a place in the middle of the country and brought us some biscuits and cookies traditional to that place.
See it here.
It was much apreciated. He also brought us a jar of pumpkin and pine nuts jam.
Can you see the little nuts here?
Ooooh!... All good things.

Today, because it's saturday, I'm in my home all happy doing homemaking and enjoying my home and the company of my children and husband.
My next chore is to make some soup. I think I will make spinach soup.
See here the last one I made: broccoli with a little bit of carrot - most portuguese soups take potatoes and carrots.

I hope to come back later on to update on my saturday adventures - or maybe tomorow.

Staring at the sky
I was trying yesterday to post something but my internet was not cooperating.
I, in a small window when internet was working, was visiting A Scrapbook of Inspiration saw a post about the sky and posting pictures of the sky. She gave a link to Tom,from the UK, of Welcome To Wiggers World who is hosting a Sky Watch.
See it at http://womtig.blogspot.com/2008/05/sky-watch_22.html
And now, some pictures I've been taking from our sky.
I can't resist. My windows and the place where I live allow me to have such pretty views of the sky.
Look here.
The sky here was amazing. I coulnd't capture all the beauty but you can have an idea.
Well, I can't post here all the nice sky I have been so fortunate to see.
But you may see all my sky pictures at http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=sky&w=31758867%40N00
Thank you for your visit.
It's so good to realize I'm not the only one who is always staring at the sky as I was seeing iy for the first time and taking pictures like crazy.
P.S.: In the first picture, the bright dot in the sky is Venus.

Rainy Corpus Christi day
As today is Corpus Christi, here we don't work.
I was all happy, very early at the computor, in my house, when I began to hear such a noise outside. It was the rain. Raining again. It has been raining everyday since some days ago.
Not that I complain. I do like rain. It's just I was planning on doing some washing and hanging it outside.
Nothing of the like. Indors.
We went to Mass, as is we must do on Holy Days, and it was raining so much that it was a big event to the little girls, because they had to dress their raincoats, the 4yo one with her all over head to toe blue "raincoat".
They were happy and I am too: staying at home with my girls and husband after being at Mass. What can be better?!

Just working
I know I've been away for some time now. I have been working very much. That's not I work more now, it's just I feel I can't switch off my outside job - inside my head. I feel always tired and I don't like it.I feel it doesn't remain any psycological space in my life.
I must find some balance. I need to focus more on the important things of life, the ones I like more.
I leave you now with a view of Sintra and with a picture of my bougainvillea with rain.
The view was taken from the balcony in my work and the flowers are mine, from my house.

Stay-at-Home Mom Worth Nearly $117,000 a Year
Study: Stay-at-Home Mom Worth Nearly $117,000 a Year
Thursday, May 08, 2008
BOSTON — If a stay-at-home mom could be compensated in dollars rather than personal satisfaction and unconditional love, she'd rake in a nifty sum of nearly $117,000 a year.
